The Local Cave and Mine Leader Assessment (LCMLA) scheme is managed by the British Caving Association The scheme has a number of modules being part of the Level 1 and Level 2 award. For both the level one and level two there is a training course which comprises of a 16 hour course. After training candidates are assessed on a skills day and a group day. Candidates are required to pass the skills day before moving onto the group day. Both the level one and two are site specific awards. After successful completion of the skills day a list of caves the candidate can lead groups in is agreed with the assessor. The modules for the LCMLA scheme are as follows:
The training courses are organised by Apex Training however external trainers and assessors will be brought in. It is entirely possible that Paul Platt will be working alongside one of the staff however Paul is needing to observe more LCMLA courses before he has provider status. Please contact Apex Training to organise Assessment days. The method of assessment is as above with the modules i.e. to attain Level 1 you will have to have two assessments. The ratio for assessments is as follows:
Module 1 1 assessor to 2 students' Module 2 1 assessor to 1 student Module 3 1 assessor to 2 students' Module 4 1 assessor to 1 student Module 5 1 assessor to 2 students'
